Not everyone is totally jazzed to brave frigid temperatures, snow filled trees and the need for nine layers while taking family photos. The McDonald Family falls into this camp. Morning mimosas and family giggles while playing with their brood of small tykes was more their style. I joked after a week of 12 family portraits between Christmas and New Years that there was a wealth of things promised to small children in my wake to try to gain compliance or at least a straight face during photo sessions. These promises included, but were not limited to: a cookie, more cookies, extra cookies, jewelry, marshmallows, ice cream, a puppy, legos, a movie, extra ipad time, candy and a pony. I had an absolute blast capturing the candid antics of this family at their Incline Village family portrait session. Their kids were, at any given moment, awesome, hysterical or falling apart and I loved every minute of it.
I adore them.
I love starting my engagement sessions off with happy hour because it allows everyone to get to know each other, relax into some good conversation and then let me set up what I call the “ground rules” for the day. Joe took these entirely to heart and as a result, I had so much fun romping around North Lake Tahoe with this rad couple for their Sand Harbor engagement session. They were giggling and laughing so much the entire session that even I couldn’t keep a straight face. The ease that Joe was able to bring smiles to his future wife’s face was endearing. These two are filled with such gigantic love and enjoyment of each other’s company and it shines through in every single photo. Although they call Northern CA home, Joe’s heart is in the mountains of his home and I’m ecstatic to see this place that he spoke so fondly of when I photograph their Spearfish Canyon Lodge wedding in South Dakota next year.
More to come from these two shining faces.
They are two of a kind.
Teddy is my brother’s best friend from childhood. He is smart, witty, fun, bold and driven. Janet is adventurous and whimsical, gracious and observant.
Janet’s a keeper. Teddy knows it. After spending a few days with these two, you can see why they’ve ended up together. I’m definitely keeping Janet as a friend and I can’t wait for them to come back to Tahoe.
More on these two awesome souls and our adventures last week. Until then, here’s a sneak peek from their Incline Village engagement session.
I’m thrilled and honored to be published over at Love + Wander again, this time for Paige and Daniel’s gorgeous Incline Village engagement session. Love + Wander is a super rad little blog that’s specifically geared towards celebrating photographers who celebrate life. I’m feeling pretty jazzed to be included in their roster of photographers. Not only was I so lucky to be this gorgeous and hilarious couple’s Tahoe engagement photographer, but I can’t wait to be their destination wedding photographer in Las Vegas, NV next May!

Trendy Groom decided that Paige and Daniel’s Tahoe Engagement session was dapper enough to publish and I am honored. Trendy Groom is super rad as it was started by a male wedding photographer who wanted to make weddings more of a “collaboration between the bride and groom making them both feel special on their wedding day.” It provides inspiration, fashion tips and wedding ideas for grooms.

Paige and Daniel were laughing so hard at each other during their engagement session I could hardly keep a straight face myself, much less a still camera. Despite the situation, their engagement session turned out to be one of my most favorite sessions of all time. They are clearly so smitten with each other, still, after eight years, that I can’t wait to see what kind of fits of giggles Paige is in during her wedding.
I adored spending time with both of them: they are funny, silly and adventurous. Their spirits are huge and it comes across loud and clear in this gorgeous set of photos, set at the Scenic Overlook, Hidden Beach and the Lone Eagle Grill in Incline Village, NV. Just in case you missed it, this set was published on Tahoe Unveiled last week. You can see my write up here or the full post over on their website.
Paige and Daniel, thank you for choosing me to be your Tahoe Engagement Photographer. I can’t wait to photograph your Las Vegas Destination Wedding next year!
