Tahoe Anniversary Portrait | Zephyr Cove, NV | Nikki + Brandon

Nikki and Brandon traveled to Lake Tahoe to celebrate their one year anniversary.  Nikki is a self-professed lover of photography and wanted a Tahoe anniversary portrait session to commemorate the trip.  This rad couple had a bit of a secret and hilarious agenda for the session that I was more than excited to participate in.  See, Brandon had really wanted to smash cake in his wife’s face at their wedding but she was vehemently against it.   A compromise ensued and for the second half of our portrait session, Nikki changed into her personally altered (she cut the bottom half off) wedding dress and Brandon’s dreams came true.  It’s one of my most favorite portrait sessions to date.  I feel really lucky that I get such rad clients with great senses of humor!

Engagement Photos at Lake Tahoe

Tahoe Winter Engagement Session | Kristin + Alan

I’m both impressed and obsessed with Kristin’s sense of style.  The pops of color she chose to wear to their Tahoe winter engagement session are enthralling and added just the right amount of energy and interest on a cold winter day.  We chose Sand Harbor State Park, which is largely empty in the winter, and save a lone horse waiting to take someone on a carriage ride, we didn’t see a soul the entire session.

Kristin and Alan are to be wed at Sugar Bowl in August and I simply cannot wait for their wild bash of a wedding.  With plenty of promised-to-be-loud friends and family invited, a bag-piper, and these two, I’m going to feel right at home.

Sand Harbor Engagement Session | Teddy + Janet

Hidden Beach is one of my favorite locations to take couples for engagement sessions.  As the name implies, the beach is hidden about 1/2 mile south of Incline Village before you get to Sand Harbor. It’s about as close of a feel to a Sand Harbor engagement session as you can get, without the permitting and fees required to shoot at Sand Harbor itself.  With huge rocks, gorgeous trees, and a quiet removed location, you are almost always guaranteed a great sunset and a quiet evening with not a soul around.  There’s a short hike to get to it, but it’s totally worth it!

To round out your evening, start with happy hour over at the Lone Eagle Grille in Incline Village.

Teddy grew up with my “little brother” and is one of his best friends to this day.  He and Janet are both nurses and have big plans to become travel nurses together so that they can see more of the United States after they wed in October.  I’m super thrilled to be their wedding photographer and even more thrilled they spent a week with me vacationing in Tahoe this spring!  We had a blast!

These two.

They are two of a kind.

Teddy is my brother’s best friend from childhood.  He is smart, witty, fun, bold and driven.  Janet is adventurous and whimsical, gracious and observant.

Janet’s a keeper.  Teddy knows it.  After spending a few days with these two, you can see why they’ve ended up together.  I’m definitely keeping Janet as a friend and I can’t wait for them to come back to Tahoe.

More on these two awesome souls and our adventures last week.  Until then, here’s a sneak peek from their Incline Village engagement session.

Galena Creek Engagement Session | Audrey + Gavin Sneak Peek

Audrey and Gavin found me through one of my greatest champions and former wedding clients, Amanda, and I’m SO thankful.  The pair are an absolute blast and we share a lot in common, including work histories that encomass everything from Television to Film to Broadcast Journalism and everything in between.  We started out our Galena Creek engagement session with a mandatory happy hour just down the street at the BJ’s Brewery at the Summit in Reno to get to know each other.  I’m a firm believer that some alcoholic beverages helps even the stiffest and most nervous of husbands-to-be walk out of the portrait session exclaiming, “that wasn’t that bad!”

There are far more than the requisite “five good images” (Gavin’s standard) to share with you and I can’t wait to share them all.  Until then, here’s a sneak peek from our session to hold you over until the photos are ready!

Emerald Bay Engagement

Tahoe Wedding Proposal | Melissa + Jad

Jad chose to propose to his girlfriend Melissa in one of the most beautiful places on the planet: Emerald Bay State Park.  When he contacted me about photographing his Tahoe wedding proposal, I readily agreed.

Jad and Melissa met in the school they both attended, a small private Baptist college.  Their faith is extremely important to them and as such, they follow rules of courtship to maintain chastity and purity.  “Now regarding the matters of which you wrote: It is good thing for a man not to touch a woman” (I Corinthians 7:1).   As such, their short, sweet portrait session doesn’t involve any photos of the two of them touching.  They are a gorgeous, vibrant couple full of love and adoration for each other and I’m so thrilled I was able to photograph their day.  I am certain these two are going to have a long love filled life full of mutual respect and joy together.

“You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.” (Psalm 16:11).

Emerald Bay Proposal | Melissa and Jad Sneak Peek

Jad originally called me from the Bay Area.  He wanted to plan a weekend getaway for his girlfriend Melissa and propose to her while he was here.  After discussing option, he picked the most picturesque location in Tahoe for the location: Emerald Bay.

Here’s a sneak peek from their Emerald Bay proposal.  More to come from this adorable couple later!

I love these two.

I just recently helped celebrate their Tahoe wedding as their photographer and, late into the evening, contributor to an epic dance party.  What a nice gift to have their San Francisco Monday Funday Engagement Session published over at the San Francisco edition of Borrowed & Blue.
