Tahoe Photo Booth

Tahoe Photo Booth | Korbel at the Hard Rock Cafe

Our photo booth is no stranger to Lake Tahoe’s Hard Rock Cafe, which is available for private events of all kinds.  Recently, Tahoe hosted American Century Celebrity Golf Championship, during which Tahoe South is flooded with golf pros, celebrities and spectators for an amazing week of fun in the sun at world reknown Edgewood Golf Course.  Korbel was one of the event sponsors this year and held a private party at the Hard Rock to celebrate.  We were more than happy to provide Photo Booth!  Here’s a few of our favorite images from the day.

If you participated in the photo booth at the event, you can view, share and download your photos via this gallery.

Enchanted Evening Photo Booth

An Enchanted Evening Event and Photo Booth | SNC Spring Formal

Twice a year, the student government association at Sierra Nevada College hosts a formal for their students.  I’ve been hired as their event photographer whenever I’m in town and available and it’s always a great time!  This spring formal was no exception.  The theme of the night was “An Enchanted Evening” and there were gorgeous gowns, a filled dance floor, and a new record in the photo booth: over 1,100 photos in five hours!  Big thanks to Nichole Lockman who assisted me for the evening and the Lone Eagle Grille for the amazing venue space!

St. Baldrick's Tahoe

St. Baldrick’s Tahoe | “Brave the Shave”

When local Tahoe teen Bailey Johnson was 9 months old, the doctors said he wouldn’t live another day and definitely not past his first birthday.  He was diagnosed with stage four neuroblastoma, a form of cancer that starts in certain types of primitive nerve cells in an embryo or fetus.  Today, Bailey is almost 16 and responsible for spearheading a yearly effort in my community of South Lake Tahoe to raise money for the St. Baldrick’s Foundation, a non-profit dedicated to eradicating childhood cancer.

More children are lost to cancer in the U.S. than any other disease—in fact, more than many other childhood diseases combined.  Childhood cancer isn’t quite so rare in our small town either.  Jenn and Jim Drennan’s beautiful daughter Caitlin was born 4 months premature in 2010.  She was rushed to the hospital in Sacramento where three days later she underwent exploratory abdominal surgery and began chemotherapy.  Like Bailey, Caitlin was also diagnosed with stage four Neuroblastoma, which, by the time she was born, was already spread throughout her body.

This year, more than 150 participants shaved their head at the St. Baldrick’s Tahoe event to show their support for their fellow community members and to help stamp out childhood cancer.  They raised more than $54,000, besting the previous years’ totals by more than 15 people and $13,000.

I was happy to lend my skills as photographer in the name of Caitlin, whose family I love, cherish and respect.  Here are a few of my favorite images from the night.  If you were a participant or spectator at the event and would like to view or download your images, you may do so via this link.

Tahoe Event Photographer | Tahoe Kids Tri

Summer is leaving us, hopefully bringing the onset of crisp fall temps, changing leaves and eventually…winter!  Lots of things in town are ending, including our beach days, Live at Lakeview and the the last of the Tahoe Kids Tri series, which involves a ton of kids ages 3-13, being awesome.  I’m always excited to be their on course and finish line photographer.  Jason and his partner Sean donate countless hours providing our community with awesome events like this one!

This year the Tahoe Tri Club is hosting two events for the kids: one was July 13, 2014 and the 2nd was on August 24, 2014.  Both events are held at the South Lake Tahoe Recreation Center.  The events entail a pool swim and a flat, paved bike and run course.

If you missed these awesome events, the Tahoe Tri Club is putting on a slew of Tahoe Fun runs this fall.  For more information and to register head over to the the fun run website.  There will be a Halloween themed race at the end of October, a Thanksgiving race and a Jingle Jog.  The race director, Jason Collin can be reached at Jason@tahoetriclub.com and (530) 307-3316.

Here are a few of my favorite photos from the afternoon.  If your child participated in the event, you can view, download, share to social media and order prints via this gallery link.

Live at Lakeview

Tahoe Event Photographer | Live at Lakeview | Week 9

It’s the last week of Live at Lakeview!  For those of you coming to visit Tahoe South for Labor Day weekend, Live at Lakeview is our premier weekly community event and the best way to spend your Thursday summer nights in Tahoe.  Beat the Bay Area weekend traffic and come to stay on Thursday and spend the evening with live music!

This week will conclude a summer of concert fun with Reggae Night!  International underground reggae sensation, Rocker T will headline and a local reggae rock band, Weapon, will open.  Arrive to the event early so you don’t miss happy hour in the beer garden!  From 4:30-5:30 PM, happy hour prices will be in effect – $1 off the beer and wine selection, which now includes Ninkasi’s Total Domination IPA!

This past week at Live at Lakeview brought Scott Pemberton Trio and Black Star Safari to the stage.  Black Star Safari had a huge crowd amassed and dancing early in the evening!  The vendor area was full of non-profits and local artisans selling their wares.

Check out free music here in Tahoe South every Thursday from 4:30-8:30 PM at Lakeview Commons from June 26th-August 28th.  Please ride your bike and utilize the free bike valet or find plenty of parking at the SLT Parks and Recreation Department on Rufus Allen Blvd.  The proceeds of all sales of alcohol from the beer garden support the series and I encourage you to either imbibe in the garden or make a donation in one of the donation boxes around the Commons Area on the night you attend.  As always, Live at Lakeview is a free community event.  Please be aware of the following city ordinances in Lakeview Commons Park: no dogs, no outside alcohol and no smoking.

You can find my weekly wrap ups, photos and previews of the next concert all summer long here and on Tahoe South.

Tahoe Event Photographer | American Century Golf Classic | Edgewood

I was thrilled to be play event photographer for the Tahoe Mountain News for the 2nd year in a row at the American Century Golf Classic at Edgewood.  While I would have really loved to hit up the 7th hole on Thursday once again, I was predisposed at Wanderlust Festival instead.

I hit up the Tahoe Celebrity Golf Championship on Saturday this year, which proved to be a sage choice, as rain and thunder sent most of the players home early on the other afternoons.  The 17th hole proved to be a wise choice to spend my time at once again.  From the energetic drunk crowds, to the beautiful views, to the player antics, I was treated to a wealth of photographic fodder.

Here are a few of my favorite photos from the American Century Celebrity Golf Classic 2014.

Live at Lakeview

Tahoe Event Photographer | Live at Lakeview | Week 6

Arleigh Kincheloe, the lead singer of Sister Sparrow and the Dirty Birds, captivated the Tahoe community last week with her enthralling voice and her gorgeously grandiose stage presence, which is about 20 times her actual size.  The band, well-known for their relentless tour schedule, made a stop in Tahoe on their way to Mammoth Lakes and Petaluma and I personally feel super lucky that we had them on our stage at Live at Lakeview!

Week 7 at Live at Lakeview brings us the return of 40 Watt Hype, who will certainly close out our evening with their special crowd-pleasing blend of hip-hop, R&B and latin fusion.  Last year, on the more Latin inspired tunes, Live at Lakeview had quite the salsa dancing crowd.

Cumbia-fusion band Candelaria will open the evening.  What is cumbia-fusion you ask?  Candelaria applies dub studio techniques and reggae style bass lines to traditional cumbia and other Colombian rhythms, developing a completely unique style of dance music with electronic sensibilities and a raw, live feel.  It should be an amazing blend of modern and traditional and a neat twist for our Thursday night entertainment!

Tahoe Concert Photographer

Tahoe Concert Photographer | Carrie Underwood Sneak Peek

Last week was an extremely busy week for me!  Between covering both Wanderlust Festival and the American Century Celebrity Golf Championship, I also helped second shoot for Brandi Caskey of Indigo Photography, had friends from Texas visit Tahoe and had the chance to photograph none other than American Idol Carrie Underwood in concert.

There’s more to come from this show, but this will have to hold you over in the meantime!

Live at Lakeview

Tahoe Event Photographer | Live at Lakeview | Week 2

Live at Lakeview wrapped up their second week of the summer with a huge beach clean-up effort after this week’s event and the Tahoe South 4th of July celebrations.  Thanks to the efforts of On Course Events and volunteers from SOS Outreach, they picked up 40 pounds of trash this week!  Live at Lakeview is always looking for extra volunteers for their weekly beach cleanups, hosted every Monday morning at Lakeview Commons from 9:00-10:30 am.  They pick up an average of 20 lbs of trash a week!

It seemed as if all of Tahoe came out to support longtime locals Lavish Green on the stage for week 2 of Live at Lakeview.  Lavish Green has a long history with Tahoe South: they’ve been calling it home since July 3, 1995 and they seemed especially moved to celebrate their 19th anniversary with the community on Thursday night, profusely thanking the crowd and their sponsors for supporting them over the years.

I am SUPER excited for the return of Tracorum to the Live at Lakeview stage.   Tracorum is an original Rock, Soul, and R&B band from San Francisco, CA.  They opened last year and I really enjoyed their NOLA-ish feel on certain numbers.  They had a nice blend of the South and it’s exciting to see them move up from an opening slot for the event to a headlining slot!

Opening for Tracorum is a band near and dear to my heart, mostly because someone I consider a good friend plays in it: The Sierra Drifters combine Americana Roots-Rock with Funk, Soul, Bluegrass and Rock-n-Roll.  Longtime locals Chris Seal and Andy Hatch front the band and have also played in Tahoe together as Bison.
