Cake Smash Portrait

Cake Smash Portrait | Schnoll Family

What’s a one year birthday celebration without a cake smash portrait?  Poor Jack – the week of his scheduled portrait session the skies turned gloomy, gray and frigidly cold.  We quickly picked a new day for his session and although we escaped the snowstorm, we didn’t escape the drop in temperatures.  No amount of chill is match for a child and his sugar however!  His first cake was consumed in it’s entirety!

It’s been so incredibly amazing to watch Dave and Jess’s family grow over the past year.  I feel extremely lucky to be their photographer!  From their maternity session, to Jack’s newborn session, their six month holiday photos and now, Jack’s 1st birthday, it’s been incredible to watch Jack grow.  It’s clients like this family and the opportunity to see such drastic change in one year that reminds me of how incredible, wonderful and powerful my job is.

Thanks Jess and Dave for sharing your family with me!  Happy birthday Jack!!

Incline Village Family Photos

Incline Village Family Portraits | McDonald Family

Not everyone is totally jazzed to brave frigid temperatures, snow filled trees and the need for nine layers while taking family photos.  The McDonald Family falls into this camp.  Morning mimosas and family giggles while playing with their brood of small tykes was more their style.  I joked after a week of 12 family portraits between Christmas and New Years that there was a wealth of things promised to small children in my wake to try to gain compliance or at least a straight face during photo sessions.  These promises included, but were not limited to: a cookie, more cookies, extra cookies, jewelry, marshmallows, ice cream, a puppy, legos, a movie, extra ipad time, candy and a pony.  I had an absolute blast capturing the candid antics of this family at their Incline Village family portrait session.  Their kids were, at any given moment, awesome, hysterical or falling apart and I loved every minute of it.

Kings Beach Family Portraits

Kings Beach Family Portraits | Snider Family

The Snider family, which currently hails from Oklahoma, Texas and Missouri, traveled to Lake Tahoe for a week this summer on a family vacation.  They all frequented Tahoe together while growing up, so Tahoe has held a special place in their hearts.  With growing families and a mother who had been begging for family photos for quite some time, their vacation to Kings Beach seemed like the perfect time and location for a quick Tahoe family portrait session.

Kaitlin was concerned that her kids were going to be a little hard to wrangle due to time changes and vacation land but I had the perfect plan: a portrait session at a beach that offers a playground was the perfect location to allow her kids to take a break in between posing.  My main goal during a portrait session is always to make you feel at home in your photographs, so making sure that young ones can blow off some steam and energy and be able to refocus is always important and these Kings Beach family portraits are no exception!

Family Portraits at Lake Tahoe

Family Photos at Lake Tahoe | Bangerter Family

Happy Thanksgiving!  What better thing to blog on a day that celebrates family than a gorgeous family portrait from this fall?

There’s no question in my mind that the Lake Tahoe area offers the best backdrops for family portraits.  There’s a ton of amazing spots to take large groups for family photos at Lake Tahoe and for the Bangerter Family, Fallen Leaf Lake was the perfect spot.  They wanted somewhere that they could walk and hike in a bit, to really enjoy the full outdoor experience.  With a large family and some gorgeous fall golden light, I’d call this Tahoe family portrait session a success!

Family Portraits at Lake Tahoe | Fallen Leaf Lake | Sneak Peek

This light.  This family.  This location.

I’m so excited about this gorgeous family portrait session at Fallen Leaf Lake.  Hailing from all over the US: Vegas, Salt Lake and Florida, this family wanted something uniquely foresty and rustic for their family portraits at Lake Tahoe and I knew just the spot.  More to come from this totes adorbs fam.

Tahoe Family Portrait Photographer | The Hatch Family Sneak Peek

Pretty soon Carson won’t be a solo act.  By the time I edit this family portrait session, his new baby sister will probably be here to ruin enrich his life.  When I asked him who was going to be bigger, his sister or he, the young one was adamant that his sister would be the bigger of the two.

Until then, here’s a cute image from their family session.

Tahoe Senior Portrait Photographer | Meagan

Meagan is a bright bubbly young woman with an awesome future ahead of her.  Headed to UCLA in the fall, she told me that she’s looking forward to Southern CA life, access to the beach year round and studying statistics.  I’m super thrilled for her and her big plans.  She was a blast to hang out with and I’m looking forward to setting up a photo booth and doing event photography for her graduation party in a few weeks at Edgewood.  I’m also extremely jealous of her super adorable riding boots.

I’m so excited to showcase these images from my Tahoe Senior Portrait Session with this gorgeous graduating Tahoe local.  Riley is a self professed beach lover and really wanted to focus on beach shots to begin with.  We picked one of my favorite portrait locations to make sure that we had a nice mix of both beach, forest and buildings to play with.  The result was a ton of amazing images that I’m thrilled with and hopefully she will be as well!
