I was thrilled to be play event photographer for the Tahoe Mountain News for the 2nd year in a row at the American Century Golf Classic at Edgewood. While I would have really loved to hit up the 7th hole on Thursday once again, I was predisposed at Wanderlust Festival instead.
I hit up the Tahoe Celebrity Golf Championship on Saturday this year, which proved to be a sage choice, as rain and thunder sent most of the players home early on the other afternoons. The 17th hole proved to be a wise choice to spend my time at once again. From the energetic drunk crowds, to the beautiful views, to the player antics, I was treated to a wealth of photographic fodder.
Here are a few of my favorite photos from the American Century Celebrity Golf Classic 2014.
Larry the Cable Guy hypes up the crowd.
Larry the Cable Guy and Charles Barkley take turns bowing to each other’s golfing prowess.
Kevin Nealon is nothin’ but net.
Kevin Nealon hams it up for 17th hole spectators.
Larry the Cable Guy goes for the punt. I posted this to my facebook page originally and he actually commented on it: “Look at that form! I’m graceful as a cheetah! Thanks so much! Hope you had as much fun as we did!”
Goose Gossage lays it out for a fan in the crowd with a mitt and a catcher’s mask.
Joe Carter teases the fans at the 17th hole.
Ed McMahon takes a breather while waiting for a commercial break.
Ricky Stenhouse JR, Denny Hamlin and Michael Waltrip make their caddies race the 17th green.
While they calmly walk behind and take photos.
Gary Williams of the Golf Channel has a bit of fun with his partners and the crowd.
Aaron Rodgers dismayed that he misses his target as partner Lucas Black laughs.
Celebrity Golf weekend is rough on everyone: even the spectators.
