Annie and Carter were blending families and lives. As this was the second marriage for both of them, it was important to them as a couple to share an intimate ceremony that was just their own. They decided to elope in Lake Tahoe as the start of a three week trip where they honeymooned together from Tahoe all throughout California and the west coast. Living in such an incredible, epic location, I have the good fortune to photograph a LOT of elopements and I absolutely love them. Couples choose elopements for a variety of reasons over traditional weddings, and now, in light of current events, I think that many couples may be forced into elopements over weddings for financial reasons. Elopements are absolutely wonderful, completely unique and intimate ways to share your connection and this Cave Rock elopement was no different!
Annie, Carter and I talked about a number of locations they were interested in, but this adventure couple eventually settled on Cave Rock. Overlooking all of Lake Tahoe, Cave Rock is a location only for those who aren’t afraid of heights and not worried to get a little dirty! They climbed down into a private overlook after hiking a mile and then scaling the large famous rock formation. Insider Tahoe Local tip: we have our very own Loch Ness Monster named Tahoe Tessie and she is famed to live under Cave Rock!
We timed our evening PERFECTLY. Starting their ceremony at just the right time and finishing with gorgeous sunset photos together. Looking for amazing Tahoe vendors for your epic adventure elopement? Head here!
