I have photographed enough Las Vegas events to have opinions about the venues (ask me about navigating the Venetian, I dare you), and The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas is one of the few that actually makes my job easier. When a longtime repeat client, Kinaxis, brought their flagship customer conference, Kinexions 2026, to The Cosmopolitan this past June, I got three days inside one of the most photogenic convention properties on the Strip. Here is what it is like to work there as a Las Vegas corporate event photographer, and why I would happily shoot another conference in this building tomorrow.

A convention property that doesn’t feel like a casino

I’ll level with you, because a spotlight is only useful if it’s true: the meeting and convention floors at The Cosmopolitan are convention floors. There are more than 200,000 square feet of them spread across multiple levels, and most of that space is clean, capable, and about as visually exciting as any good convention center anywhere. If you’re picturing chandeliers and drama in every breakout room, that’s not the reality, and I’m not going to pretend otherwise.

So why write a whole spotlight on it? Because the things that actually make a multi-day conference easier to run, and easier to photograph, aren’t the wallpaper. They’re location, flow, and one genuinely great room. The Cosmopolitan nails all three, and for Kinexions that added up to a smooth, efficient shoot.  Honestly, if you’re going to get stuck inside a convention center and hotel for 3 full days, the Cosmopolitan wasn’t a bad one to be stuck in. They get extra bonus points for their rooftop pool deck area, which hosted our opening party.

Why The Cosmopolitan works so well for large corporate events

One selling point is that everything lived conveniently under one roof. Kinexions ran its keynotes and general sessions in the Boulevard Ballroom, the main stage, where Razat Gaurav opened the event with this year’s theme reveal, Decisions to Outcomes. At Agentic Speed. The breakouts and smaller customer sessions happened on the third floor in appropriately sized spaces, meals were held in the mid-size Belmont ballrooms, the partner expo was held in the Nolita ballrooms, and the closing party took over The Chelsea. All of it in one connected footprint, so attendees (and I) weren’t schlepping between disconnected buildings, though I will say that I did put in my steps that week (not a horrific amount for a convention – only 17k!). It’s a real contrast to last year’s Kinexions at the Fairmont in Austin, where the closing party lived at a separate venue, and everyone (crew and gear included) had to relocate to keep the night going. On a tight conference timeline, having every room in the same building was both fantastic (and a bit horrific when you realize that in True Las Vegas fashion, you’ve not been outside for 3 days).

The stages are built for photos. Here’s the best part of shooting a client like Kinaxis, and the same goes for some of my other biggest repeat clients, the Sustainable Packaging Coalition and National Instruments: they care about production design. There’s always a compelling backdrop, and the stages are lit beautifully. That matters more than most people realize. When a client invests in a great-looking stage, I’m not burning my energy trying to make a flat, badly lit conference room look like something it isn’t. Instead, I get to do the actual fun part of the job: chasing dynamic, creative images of the speakers and the stage, and finding a fresh angle every single time someone new steps up to present, and in general, just spending more time adjusting, making changes, and being creative as I move through my day. A big ballroom is just a big ballroom until someone builds a set worth shooting inside it, and Kinaxis always does.

The location itself is a big draw. You’re dead center on the Strip at 3708 Las Vegas Boulevard South, between Bellagio and CityCenter, so attendees can walk to dinner, drinks, and their rooms without a shuttle or a cab. For an out-of-town corporate crowd, that beats a convention center marooned in a parking lot, and it keeps people around for the evening programming instead of scattering. It also doesn’t hurt that there are José Andrés restaurants right in the building. I spent every happy hour parked in Jaleo editing day-of highlights with great wines by the glass for $11. At a Vegas conference, that is basically a miracle. Honestly, in America today, an $11 glass of wine is a miracle.

It handles scale without feeling cavernous. Kinexions is not a small event, and it never felt swallowed by the building. The Cosmopolitan’s rooms are big when you need spectacle and intimate when you need connection.

And the after-hours programming was every bit as photogenic as the sessions. Opening night, we had a rooftop party out at the pool, complete with performers floating through the crowd in giant inflatable balls and others working the room on stilts. It was gorgeous.

The Chelsea: Steve Aoki closes out Kinexions

The Chelsea is the property’s showpiece: a 40,000-square-foot theater that’s an actual concert venue, and the only room in the building with real architectural drama. Kinexions used it for exactly one thing, the closing party, and it was the right call. This event didn’t fizzle out with a polite reception. It ended with a full-blown party with Steve Aoki headlining, and if you know Aoki, you know what that means: at some point, cake is getting launched into the crowd.

Photographing an Aoki set was incredibly fun. His energy is wall to wall, and it was so incredibly clear that he has such exuberance (still) for his job. I even got invited to stand on the DJ booth to photograph a group shot, which was a thrilling first for me (I know, you are shocked). Unbeknownst to me before this event, Steve is apparently known for “caking people.’  Yes. You read that correctly. He literally throws cake at people. I could tell you that it happens in a blink, but that would be cliche and he actually threw THREE cakes.  I got three different versions – before it left his hands, literally mid air, and then the final connection on the last one and I couldn’t be more pleased with that outcome.  This is where being a Las Vegas event photographer who has shot concerts and high-energy activations pays off, because there’s no second take. I kid, I kid, I got three. Haha.

The Chelsea’s scale and industrial, multi-level design turn a corporate closing party into something that looks like a legitimate concert, and the production lighting gives the shots real punch. For Kinaxis, that means the party photos aren’t throwaways. They’re some of the most shareable, “you had to be there” images from the whole event, and exactly the kind of content that convinces people that the trip is worth the expense for next year.

Photographing a repeat client at a venue like this

Kinaxis is exactly the kind of client I build my business around: they come back, they trust me with their people and their brand, and they know that great conference photography is not a line item to cut but an asset that works long after the event ends. (I wrote more about that in my post on event photography ROI.) When you have worked with a client repeatedly, you already know their priorities, their key people, their must-get shots, and their turnaround expectations, so I can move independently through a venue like The Cosmopolitan and just get it done.

For big Las Vegas events, I deliver same-day highlights, typically 30 to 100 fully edited images, so marketing and PR teams can publish while the buzz is still high, with the full gallery following within three business days. In a city and a building this fast-moving, that speed is the whole game.
