Oh my goodness – what a gem of a venue this intimate spot in downtown Sacramento is.  If you are looking for a Prickly Pear wedding photographer, call me up! I am in LOVE. Sterling and Ido hired me before Covid was a thing and they were one of my very last Covid elopements that were waiting to get married.  The delay was for good reason: they reside and live permanently in Israel, where they met, and desperately wanted to share their intimate Sacramento elopement with Sterling’s Family before having a larger wedding for Ido’s family at home in Israel.

The Prickly Pear is located in adjacent to Southside Park in the Southside Park neighborhood of Sacramento.  it’s actually a BEAUTIFUL and completely charming botanical garden and nursery by day.  It is inside a historical renovated home in a neighborhood, surrounded by other houses rather than businesses.  They are a “nursery with a purpose” and also offer paint and sip events, custom apparel and more!  If you hold your Prickly Pear Wedding at this whimsical venue, you’ll find cacti galore, a large outdoor shaded patio, a greenhouse, a full kitchen and wedding suite, as well as a barn, which was perfect for Sterling and Ido.  They had no originally planned for their wedding to be that late in the year (it was December) so by ceremony time it was dark and cold!  I can say with certainty, however, that the evening darkness and chill didn’t put even the slightest damper on how cute (and did I say charming) this venue is!  Venue rental for a Prickly Pear wedding is incredibly reasonable and is absolutely perfect for an intimate wedding, event or elopement.

PRICKLY PEAR WEDDING AND ELOPEMENT IN MIDTOWN SACRAMENTO

The Prickly Pear is a perfect venue to get elope at or hold your intimate or budget wedding if you are looking for venues that are close to downtown Sacramento, but not in the capitol corridor. Located close to Midtown and tucked into a neighborhood filled with historically restored homes and bungalows, the Prickly Pear offers a large patio, lots of shade, a greenhouse and a historic barn for your reception needs.  Because it functions by day as a fully operating botanical garden, greenhouse and nursery, this venue has absolutely NO need for decor!  The patio is gorgeous, complete with a lit outdoor fruit tree and the perfect location for cocktail hour before you move into the barn for dinner and dancing.  Nearby neighborhood streets offer tons of options for different colors and textures for portraits and if you want LOTS of color (I always do) there are fantastic murals nearby in Southside Park. And also, killer fried chicken. My favorite hotel in the downtown Sacramento area is the Kimpton Sawyer Hotel.

MIDTOWN SACRAMENTO WEDDING

Midtown Sacramento is a great location for a destination wedding for anyone and the urban area offers a wide variety of dining options, activities and places for your guests to explore! With it’s high concentration of bars, nightclubs and restaurants, you can’t go wrong! There’s a Midtown Farmer’s market, plenty of walkable streets and a plethora of bikes and scooters available for those who don’t want to use their own two feet. My favorite Midtown Sacramento restaurant is The Waterboy. Want a Prickly Pear wedding photographer? Contact me here.
