Once upon a time, in the days before Covid, Emily and Justin originally planned a lake front Sand Harbor wedding on jet skis but the pandemic had other plans for them. When they discovered later that summer how incredibly busy Sand Harbor is on the weekend, they admitted they weren’t actually all that sad about the demise of their original plan. Instead, after a few missteps and some exploration of cities that would be easy for their friends and family to access, this Palm Springs based couple settled on a downtown Sacramento wedding with a charming intimate hotel wedding. I’ve actually been a Sterling Hotel Wedding Photographer before, for a Magic the Gathering wedding and I was thrilled to return as Emily and Justin’s Sterling Hotel Wedding Photographer.

This elopement was all sorts of charming and had plenty of their quirky dry humor infused into it. The neighborhood surrounding the Sterling Hotel in Downtown Sacramento has tons of great options for portraits within walking distance.

The Wedgewood Sterling Hotel is a perfect venue to get married at if you’re looking to have your wedding in Downtown Sacramento. Located in the heart of Downtown, close to the capital grounds and midtown, and surrounded by Sacramento’s tree lined streets, it offers a large private reception room for large receptions, an idyllic outdoor patio that’s perfect for cocktail hour, and plenty of neighboring alleys and backdrops for portraits. Plus the steps outside the Sterling Hotel are just gorgeous for your first look.
