A few weeks ago, I was fortunate to have been able to take the time off to donate time to the Wounded Warrior Ability Camp at Disabled Sports USA Far West, an amazing non profit out of Alpine Meadows, Lake Tahoe that provides affordable inclusive physical and recreational activities that build health and confidence to the disabled. The Ability Camp is a week long program that provides specialized instruction in adaptive alpine skiing and snowboarding for 25 soldiers and marines disabled in Iraq and Afghanistan.
I took a ton of amazing photo in my four days with the participants, but you can view the rest of my favorites in the Projects: Wounded Warriors tab or by following this link. There are plenty of memorable moments that I captured, but the most valuable to me were the handful of new friendships forged.
In past years, I have spent quite a bit of time with Disabled Sports Far West and it’s an organization that I believe in. I unfortunately wasn’t able to donate my time this year as a lesson assistant. I think this, instead, is a pretty awesome way to give them an awesome service and still donate my time to a worthy cause. I can’t wait to return next year to photograph the event again.
