Gold Hill Gardens Wedding | Newcastle, CA | Zoë and Jordan

By |January 15th, 2024|wedding|

This extended group of friends has now hired me and shared me and referred me more than any other group in my decade plus history as a wedding photographer. I have photographed FIVE weddings between all of them, multiple engagement sessions, maternity sessions, family portraits, graduations, and more. There is no compliment higher than being referred out again and again and again and this group continues to pay me the highest of compliments. While Zoë and Jordan's gorgeous Gold Hill Gardens wedding in Newcastle, CA was a bit more traditional than this group usually goes, their October wedding had plenty of non-traditional surprises up it's sleeves.

Virginia City Wedding Photographer | Piper’s Opera House | Brenda + Dillon

By |January 1st, 2024|Nevada, wedding|

When Brenda first contacted me about being her Virginia City wedding photographer she gushed over my love for guacamole, enticed me with BBQ and promised me a man dressed as a miner with a donkey. We never found the miner, or the donkey, but they did have a pistol packing preacher in a top hat (he had to check his gun at the Opera House gun check), fry bread, delicious promised BBQ, and both Brenda and Dillon have really wonderful and calm spirits. When some things didn’t go as planned (sometimes red lipstick gets on wedding dresses), there was nary a beat in anyone’s steps because these two are so incredibly cool (so hot they’re cool! so cool they’re hot!). For future incidents: laughter helps and so do Tide pens!

Pinecrest Chalet Wedding | Pinecrest, CA | Jesse and Megan

By |December 11th, 2023|wedding|

I frequently get hired for a very specific niche of the destination wedding market and it is one that I love. Summer camp weddings bring me immense joy. They cater to clients who seek unconventional celebrations: rowing boats to your ceremony, hosting a bike parade, or cutting a cake with a chainsaw—this is where my ideal clients thrive. Megan and Jesse's Pinecrest Chalet wedding is another standout example of an outdoorsy couple who held an absolutely perfect weekend celebration, filled with lakeside games, nature walks, and campfire whiskey sessions, all which perfectly aligns with the essence of adult summer camp and the perfect Venn diagram of things that I love.

How to Prepare for Your Engagement Photos

By |November 13th, 2023|Engagement, wedding, Wedding Planning|

Getting in front of the camera can be an anxiety-inducing nerve-wracking decision. I know! I try to hire photographers for myself every year just so I can remember how bizarre it feels to be in front of the lens, rather than behind it. If you've recently gotten engaged and are considering engagement photos, here's all the reasons why I think they are helpful and how to make the most of your session.

Glacier National Park Wedding | Summit Mountain Lodge

By |November 6th, 2023|Travel, wedding|

This past summer, thanks to two beloved clients of mine, I had the opportunity to take 10 days and explore the wild remoteness that western Montana has to offer thanks to their Glacier National Park Wedding. Glacier National Park is STUNNING, not to mention, it’s an unparalleled backdrop for a ridiculously gorgeous wedding portrait. It’s got majestic peaks, breathtaking mountains that stack on each other as far as the eye can see, expansive lakes, wilderness for days. Whether you consider yourself to be an outdoorsey adventurous go-getter or simply stick to the road more traveled, it’s still an unforgettable experience. If you’re interested in a Glacier National Park wedding, Marquie and Josh did it right – here's a few tips on how to have the perfect Big Sky Country wedding day.

Emerald Bay Wedding | Chris and Stacy

By |September 18th, 2023|Elopement, Tahoe, Tips, wedding, Wedding Planning|

Should you choose to completely disregard my advice in my previous blog post about all the reasons why you should hold your Emerald Bay wedding by boat, then I am still here for you, albeit perhaps a bit begrudgingly. It is the hard truth that although picturesque, getting married or eloping at the top of Emerald Bay comes with significant challenges. You might think that an intimate wedding with less people provides less stress, but I can tell you with certainty (as can Chris and Stacy) that it does not in Emerald Bay. Still dedicated to an Emerald Bay elopement? Read on my friend.

Small intimate elopements and micro weddings have always been popular in Lake Tahoe, and now so more than ever.  I believe that everyone, no matter what their budget or the size of their event, deserves amazing photography.  Often, intimate weddings hire me for only an hour and that was the case with Gage and Nathan's The Arch at Lakeside Beach LGBTQ elopement. More from their intimate day here!
