I frequently get hired for a very specific niche of the destination wedding market and it is one that I love. Summer camp weddings bring me immense joy. They cater to clients who seek unconventional celebrations: rowing boats to your ceremony, hosting a bike parade, or cutting a cake with a chainsaw—this is where my ideal clients thrive. Megan and Jesse's Pinecrest Chalet wedding is another standout example of an outdoorsy couple who held an absolutely perfect weekend celebration, filled with lakeside games, nature walks, and campfire whiskey sessions, all which perfectly aligns with the essence of adult summer camp and the perfect Venn diagram of things that I love.
Dripping Springs, located in the heart of the Texas Hill Country, is a perfect destination wedding location and one that I personally would love to visit more often! From breathtaking natural beauty to top-notch wedding venues and accommodations, and a wealth of breweries, wineries, and distilleries, Dripping Springs has everything you need to make your wedding a memorable and enjoyable experience for you and your guests, whether they are coming from Austin or farther. This past fall, I was honored to second shoot a Lucky Arrow Retreat wedding with my friend and frequent associate Lisa Hause. We both fell head over heels for this incredible all inclusive summer camp wedding venue just outside of Austin, TX.
A summer camp wedding is the perfect destination wedding for the client who wants a relaxed, but all encompassed vacation weekend for their celebration. A relaxing destination wedding at an established summer camp like Camp Galilee allows everyone to enjoy an extended amount of time socializing, but in a more budget friendly way and, better yet, all on the same property. For Rachael and Garrett, who both previously worked at Camp Galilee, it was the perfect location because it is a place near and dear to both their hearts.
The beauty of a destination wedding is that it feels like a vacation with all of your favorite people together. The beauty of a summer camp destination wedding is that all of your favorite people are together in the same place at a SUMMER CAMP. And when I say that there is nothing better than adult summer camp, you should believe me. The tl:dr of this post is that Michelle and Jeff did it 100% right with their Jimbo's Club at the Point wedding in upstate NY and I loved all of it.
Summer camp weddings are my FAVORITE. I spent many years of my life spending every summer at camp and the feeling of comfort and nostalgia can't be beat. How can you not just be immediately relaxed at a summer camp? Carla and Kurtis wanted a raging DIY wedding party and this summer camp wedding was the perfect venue. Read all about it here!
Lauren and Rich were wed in the Texas Hill Country in a Kerrville Museum of Western Art wedding after intense rains flooded out their original venue. Read more about their gorgeous venue in Kerrville, TX and their day here.
