When Kinaxis, a global supply chain software company, brought their North American team and customers to Austin, they weren’t looking for just another offsite for one of many corporate events at the Fairmont Austin. They wanted a space to connect, celebrate, and recharge—and they needed a photographer who could capture that energy without slowing them down.

Enter: the Fairmont Austin. And ME, of course.

This wasn’t my first time photographing a corporate events at the Fairmont Austin, and there’s a reason clients keep coming back. With massive ballrooms, large glass windows, sleek breakout spaces, and skyline views from nearly every corner, including the incredible patio at Rules and Reg, it’s one of the most flexible and photogenic venues for corporate events in Austin. But great architecture doesn’t tell the story. People do.

Understanding the Brand Behind the Event

Before the first badge was handed out or the AV team finished mic checks, I took time to get to know the Kinaxis crew. Not just who they are, but how they operate. High-energy, collaborative, global in scope—and not afraid to have fun. They weren’t looking for stiff headshots or over-posed group photos. They wanted images that captured culture in motion. They wanted to highlight the incredible energy their attendees exuded, the excitement of the event itself, and the as many natural moments of connection happening as possible—and we all know, that’s my mf-ing jam.

One thing they made clear upfront: they needed someone who was self-sufficient, who could handle a full range of coverage with very little direction—and deliver daily highlight images fast.

So that’s exactly what I did. Every day, multiple times a day, I delivered a curated batch of selects from the very same day—fully edited, consistent, and ready to drop into those linkedin press releases or internal channels. No waiting, no backlogs.

By the end of the week, their event lead told me:

“You really proved your value. We couldn’t believe our event looked so good.”

That’s the goal. Go beyond checking boxes, and deliver images that make the brand look sharp, the team look engaged, and the experience feel as good as it was.

Why Corporate Events at the Fairmont Austin Work So Well for Photography

If you’re planning corporate events at the Fairmont Austin, here’s why it works so well from a photographer’s perspective:

  • Lighting: Floor-to-ceiling windows in many of the rooms mean I can balance natural and artificial light, keeping things dynamic and avoiding that flat, fluorescent “conference room” look.

  • Versatility: The Fairmont is a shape-shifter. For Kinaxis, we moved from keynote speeches in the Manchester Ballroom to casual networking by the rooftop pool, and it all felt cohesive.

  • Logistics: Central location, easy access, and built for scale. For teams flying in, that matters. For vendors like me lugging gear—also a major bonus.

What I Focused On (And What Clients Actually Use)

Here’s a breakdown of what I delivered—and how Kinaxis used it across their brand channels:

  • Candid Team Interactions: Think hallway conversations, natural smiles, real connection. These are the shots that build culture.

  • Branded Details: From signage to swag, capturing the small stuff ties the event together and helps reinforce the brand.

  • Speaker Coverage: Sharp, clean, well-lit images of presenters—no weird angles or awkward lighting with a wide variety of close-ups, mid-range, and wide shots in both vertical and horizontal for multi-purpose end use.

  • Evening Vibes: Rooftop cocktail hour? Let’s go. My client wanted to focus on the relationships between people and their branding.  This was a talkative, energetic event with attendees that made it that way.

  • High-Energy Entertainment: The closing night party? Nelly performed. Yes, that Nelly. Private concert, full production, crowd going wild. Capturing those moments—the energy, the movement, the expressions—is where event photography levels up.

  • Unexpected Activations: Midweek, the team got a surprise break with a puppy petting lounge—actual rescue puppies, available for snuggles. And later, a custom hat bar where guests designed their own keepsake hats, complete with branded patches. It was peak Austin, and it photographed so well!

More Than Just a Gallery—A Visual Story

With Kinaxis, the goal was to tell a visual story—one that felt cohesive, human, and tailored to the kind of high-impact corporate events at the Fairmont Austin that leave a lasting impression. I delivered a gallery they could use for internal communications, recruitment, executive decks, social media, and future event marketing. That kind of versatility is what makes professional event photography a real asset—not just a line item.

And here’s something a lot of photographers miss: your images don’t just live in a recap—they help sell the next event. Branded, high-quality photography plays a huge role in sponsorship decks and partnership pitches. When sponsors can see their logo in a polished, professional setting—with engaged attendees, great energy, and smart placement—it builds credibility and drives value. You’re not just documenting an event; you’re helping fund the next one.
