Welcome to Snowglobe!  Day 1 was an absolute blast, though mild in temps with bluebird skies.  Attendees: be prepared for colder weather today!  The forecast is calling for a cold and mostly dry Arctic storm with temps in the low teens tonight and snow showers.  Here are a few of my favorite photos from the day and recommendations of who to catch on Day 2 of the festival.  Single day tickets and the schedule are still available on their website.

  • OVERWERK: Sierra Tent, 3:30-4:30.  Canadian producer and songwriter Edmond Huszar combines dramatic, orchestral passages with electro house.  For fans of: Daft Punk, Justice, Wolfgang Gartner.
  • Snakehips: Main Stage, 4:00-5:15.  With some skillful production and booty shaking remixing, this young duo takes classic R&B and hip-hop and repurposes it in the most delightful of ways.  For fans of: Star Slinger, Curtis Mayfield, Disclosure.
  • Phantogram: Main Stage, 5:40-6:40. Phantogram has had a stand-out year.  Critical acclaim resounded from all sides for their new album Voices, which has already taken up prominent positions on almost every “Best Of” Music List of 2014.  Their blend of danceable electronic pop is percussive heavy and sure to keep even the coldest of Snowglobe festival goers warm from intense dancing.   For fans of: Memory Tapes, Sleigh Bells, STRFCKR, the xx.

If you get hungry, make sure to grab a bowl of White Guy Pad Thai!  In veggie or chicken options, it’s warm, filling and amazing!
