I LOVE backyard weddings. I love the simplicity. I love the camaraderie. I love the uniqueness. I love that people make it their own. I love that there are usually long tables with family style dining and open seating plans. I love dancing under twinkle lights and stars. I love the lawn games and less formal attire and summery cocktails. I also love Pride month so what better way to celebrate it than with a month of LGBT+ wedding posts and related resources!
In the face of a global pandemic, many couples are having to make difficult choices regarding the days they have, in some cases, spent their lives or at least the last year or two, dreaming about. When Jackie told me that she was having an intimate backyard wedding I swooned. When she told me that it was going to be a Black Bear Lodge wedding I leaped with joy. I've been desperate to work at the Black Bear Lodge ever since Greg and Rachel took it over. Not only are they RIDICULOUSLY nice people (much nicer than the likes of me), but they've done an amazing job with this quaint cozy wooded boutique hotel. The lawn is perfect for backyard ceremonies and your entire wedding party can stay on site. In the summer, I do yoga on the lawn with my friend Jenay of Lake Tahoe Yoga and in the winter, I while away happy hours at their wine tastings in the lodge living room.
