As a longtime (14 years! Whew!) opinionated local, I have no shortage of suggestions for where to eat, drink, play and explore in Lake Tahoe. I love where I live and I love showing it off even more. After many years of just sharing this info via email, I figured that a nice pandemic slowdown was the perfect time to share some love to my favorite Tahoe haunts. As such, here is my official Local's Guide to Lake Tahoe!
Once upon a time there was a bride that broke her foot just weeks before her wedding. She didn't let it cramp her style though! Philbert and Ming had a perfectly relaxed outdoor summer wedding at Basecamp Hotel in South Lake Tahoe, completely with lawn games, a raucous late night dance party and great beer. When Jackie told me that she was having an intimate backyard wedding I swooned. When she told me that it was going to be a Black Bear Lodge wedding I leaped with joy. I've been desperate to work at the Black Bear Lodge ever since Greg and Rachel took it over. Not only are they RIDICULOUSLY nice people (much nicer than the likes of me), but they've done an amazing job with this quaint cozy wooded boutique hotel. The lawn is perfect for backyard ceremonies and your entire wedding party can stay on site. In the summer, I do yoga on the lawn with my friend Jenay of Lake Tahoe Yoga and in the winter, I while away happy hours at their wine tastings in the lodge living room.
